On December 16, MNIT staff partnering with the Department of Education (MDE) will publish schema changes and content updates to the following three data resources on the Minnesota Geospatial Commons:
- School District Boundaries: Schema changes include reordering and renaming of columns, and removing the “ORGID” column. Updated data, including schema changes, are now available for preview in the Minnesota School District Boundaries 2021 AGOL service.
- School Attendance Areas: Schema changes include renaming several columns. Updated data, including schema changes, are now available in the Minnesota School Attendance Areas 2021 AGOL service.
- School Program Locations: Schema changes include reordering and renaming of columns, and removal of columns with mixed data. Updated data, including schema changes, are now available in the Minnesota School Program Locations 2021 AGOL service.
Stakeholders making use of last year's "SY2020" web services are encouraged to migrate their applications to the new "SY2021" services linked above, taking note of schema changes that might impact functionality such as popups and labels. The 2020 services are still available, but marked with deprecation notices. Links to the new services, including a basic web map, are available on MDE's AGOL homepage.
Given that the schema changes are breaking changes for a foundational resource, this announcement is being issued well in advance according to the Communicating Changes to Resources guidance for Geospatial Commons Publishers. For more information, contact MDE GIS Coordinator Mike Dolbow.
