Wabasha County

Wabasha County is located along the Mississippi River in Southeastern Minnesota bordering Wisconsin and is one of Minnesota’s original 9 territorial counties. Organized in 1849, Wabasha County is named after Chief (Joseph) Wapasha III. The County contains 11 cities and 17 townships, including the County Seat, the City of Wabasha. According to the 2010 Census, the total population of Wabasha County was 21,676. Wabasha County is part of Minnesota’s “Driftless Area” that escaped the flattening effects of glaciation during the last ice age.
