dsOriginator | Metropolitan Council |
dsPurpose | The Localized Flood Map for Climate Vulnerability Screening layer is part of the Metropolitan Council's Climate Vulnerability Assessment project. The Council initiated a Climate Vulnerability Assessment (CVA) in response to the increased frequency of extreme heat and flooding events associated with climate change. This work supports regional climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience planning efforts. The Localized Flood Map for Climate Vulnerability Screening layer is intended for planning, prioritization, and alternatives analysis, not as a definitive source of localized flooding locations. Flooding may or may not occur in identified low points (called bluespots) based on land use, soil type, and stormwater infrastructure. Flooding may occur at locations not identified in the layer due to riverine flooding, local conditions, or changes to the landscape. |
