Interregional Corridor and Statutory Routes in Minnesota

The Interregional Corridor system has been retired and is no longer used to measure performance or as an investment category. Through federal legislation, the National Highway System was expanded and performance measures for mobility on the NHS have been developed. The NHS is now the priority network for mobility investment in the 20-year Minnesota State Highway Investment Plan. The plan has identified a small amount of investment to address travel time reliability issues at priority locations on the NHS in Greater Minnesota. Performance measures and targets on the NHS have yet to be developed but will follow federal requirements. For more information on how the NHS is used in MnDOT's investment planning, refer to the 20-year State Highway Investment Plan. For NHS performance information, refer to the current Annual Transportation Performance Report.

Statutory routes grant MnDOT the authority to own and operate highways. Statutory routes are composed of constitutional and legislative routes. Constitutional routes are defined as part of the Babcock Amendment to the Minnesota State Constitution in 1920, and cannot be severely altered or removed. Legislative routes are defined by the Minnesota State Legislature in statute.

The constitutional routes are numbered 1 to 70, legislative routes are those numbered greater than 70. The statutory route number does not necessarily coincide with the signed route number.

Check other metadata records in this package for more information on Interregion Corridor and Statutory Routes in Minnesota.

Links to ESRI Feature Services:

Interregional Corridor in Minnesota: Interregional Corridor

Statutory Routes in Minnesota: Statutory Routes
