Waterbodies on MPCA Wild Rice Inventory

These are the waterbodies identified for wild rice production, identified in appendix H of the assessment guidance manual and in Minn R Chapter 7050. These waters have had documented evidence of wild rice growth. Inclusion on this list does not indicate current wild rice production. The streams and lakes included are a subset of the MPCA Water Unit IDs (WIDs) built on the 1:24,000 scale National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) with additional polygon input from MnDNR. This is a small subset of the MPCA WIDS, only that subset is included in the dataset.

dsCurrentRef Scope of wild rice information goes back to 1854. Current inventory development began in 2015, published in 2017.
Refresh of this data is tied to the update cycle of the MPCA Water Units. This is done several times a year, and may result in changes to stream length or ID number. The wild rice inventory is not expected to change.
