Minnesota Groundwater Contamination Atlas

The Minnesota Groundwater Contamination Atlas GIS data allows users to view groundwater areas of concern for sites in remediation programs. The data does not map areas of risk to the health of the communities. If there are potential health risks associated with a groundwater area of concern, proper remediation treatments or activities are implemented to protect human health.<br/><br/>The six different layers in the geodatabase work together to represent what is shown on the site story maps in the Atlas. MPCA hydrogeologists reviewed many reports and data files, then used geographic information systems technology and professional judgment to map these areas. The dashed and solid outlines for these mapped areas represent two different levels of certainty. dsCurrentRef The data receive daily updates to reflect the most current information available. In aggregate, the data were collected throughout the existence of MPCA’s Remediation Program. Individual records are collected throughout the life-cycle of a Remediation Program interest. Several date fields contained in the data describe when an individual record was last collected or the location information was modified.
