MNDNR Forest Inventory Diameter

The Forest Inventory Diameter Distribution table shows the trees per acre by two-inch diameter class for the species present within a stand from the last inventory activity capable of that assessment. Forest diameter distributions are a fundamental data set for assessing stand conditions. They provide actionable intelligence for determining present and possible management as well potential outcomes, such as timber harvest analysis and post treatment conditions. This information is especially critical for stands scheduled for intermediate treatments such as commercial thinning. Data can also be useful for assessing tree species retention within even and uneven-aged managed stands and cover-types.
