A long-awaited regional milestone has arrived! A complete seven-county metro address point dataset is now available from the Minnesota Geospatial Commons. Its attributes follow the recently adopted state address point data standard.

The dataset aims to contain a point location and the official address for all occupiable units and other official addresses within each address authority's jurisdiction. Address authorities are usually cities.

The compiled regional data is made possible by widespread collaboration among many partners. Metro area cities and counties coordinate on an on-going basis to create, maintain and aggregate address points. They worked swiftly to align their datasets with the new standard. The Metropolitan Council aggregated and validated the multi-county dataset.

Currently, the dataset contains points for Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties, with the potential to incorporate data from counties that border the metro.

See the Metro Address Point Dataset resource to learn more about the data and to download the regional file.

See the address point data standard webpage for details on the standard and supporting materials.
