Earlier this year, MnGeo, a program of MN.IT Services, closed the books on the final phase of the project to build the Commons. Now that the project is finished, our task is to continue adding content, such as data, maps, applications, and services. Last week, we surpassed 250 resources. You can follow our progress with the chart shown here; we expect to see even more growth in the coming months.

One of the key publishers that helped us reach this milestone was the Minnesota Geological Survey (MGS). Thanks to help from MGS and the folks at USpatial, geologic maps and atlases from many parts of the state are now discoverable through the Commons. Typically these resources direct you the University of Minnesota's Digital Conservancy Library for access and download, which is different than many other resources on the Commons. However, working closely with the University in order to establish these links fills a significant gap in our resource availability for geoscientific information, which supports our stewardship of Minnesota's water, land, and minerals.

Check out the resources from MGS today, and watch us grow the Commons this year and beyond.
