Seats are available for an upcoming GIS training session in using the Agricultural Conservation Planning Framework (ACPF), taking place August 13-14 in Mankato.

The ACPF is a GIS toolset for targeting conservation and water management practices at specific sites within small, rural watersheds. Along with tools that are semi-automated within ArcGIS software, users can generate detailed maps of watersheds showing where conservation practices are suitable and effective.

The training is for GIS technicians who work with rural watersheds and have a basic understanding of how to conduct terrain analysis and hydrologic conditioning. Participants will learn how to use these tools to prioritize potential locations for conservation practices. There is no fee for the training, but participants are responsible for food and lodging. The training is sponsored by a McKnight-funded project to test the use of the ACPF in Minnesota, and the remaining seats are open to any GIS technician interested in implementing the framework in local watersheds.
