dsCurrentRef | The authoritative export date for a given record is in the exp_date field of the main plan_parcels_open table, although not all counties provide this data and, if this is the case, MnGeo does not populate it. Please join this dataset to plan_parcels_open, linked below, using the objectid field. |

dsPurpose | Parcel data has been identified as a foundational data layer for Minnesota and provides benefits for many operational uses. This dataset enables users to visualize the government owned parcels within each opt-in open county. It provides a best-effort inference of government ownership based on attributes provided by counties (often owner name, taxpayer name, or use class) where the ownership was not directly provided. This dataset was developed to enable geospatial professionals to perform statewide geospatial analysis, research, and mapping. For instance, knowing where government units have land holdings will help with coordinating land management and conservation efforts across Minnesota. The dataset provides a subset of the parcels from opt-in, open data counties, in a common coordinate system. Users can join this dataset to the open parcel dataset using the objectid field to access parcel attributes in the standard GAC schema. |
