dsPurpose | Where municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4) discharge to an impaired waterbody or a waterbody with an approved total maximum daily load (TMDL), the MS4 must include a process in the municipality’s stormwater management program to address the TMDL. This database provides TMDL modeled waste load allocation (WLA) drainage basin boundaries which overlap with MS4 boundaries. This spatial database gives MPCA staff and external partners the ability to visualize the spatial extent of modeled WLA drainage areas in a GIS context and allows for more efficient documentation of project compliance with MS4 permits. The database can also be used in spatial analysis operations with other spatial data layers that map features in the environment such as feedlots, surface water discharge locations, riparian areas, and green infrastructure. The availability of this data will help support collaboration between various organizations involved in water resource management and impaired waters issues in Minnesota. |
