Ambulance Primary Service Areas for Minnesota

The Primary Service Area (PSA) dataset utilizes the text-based PSA descriptors to display ambulance service primary service areas as designated by the Minnesota Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS). The OEMS is the state agency that licenses ambulance services in Minnesota. Each ambulance service is licensed to provide a certain level of care (basic life support, advanced life support or a combination). The level of care is largely dependent on the training level of the personnel. Each ambulance service is licensed to provide care in an assigned PSA which has defined geographic boundaries. In the event of a discrepancy between this information (data and text-based descriptions) and other sources, the text-based descriptor is the final determination of the OEMS.
